Colie L. Lorick , Jr.

 Pastor

PASTOR COLIE L. LORICK, JR

Known to his friends as “Josh”, Bishop Lorick is a native of Columbia, SC growing up in a close-knit community called Greenview. He is the fifth of nine children and eldest son of Bishop and Mrs. C.L. Lorick Sr. He is married to the former Mary Hopkins. They are blessed with 2 sons, Cory and Terrence, one daughter-in-law, Hope, and three grandsons, Chancellor, Dillon, and Ean. Members of his congregation affectionately refer to him as “Pastor”.

Educated in Columbia, South Carolina public schools, he is a graduate of C.A. Johnson High School and Midland Technical College with an Associates of Sciences Degree in Tool and Die Design. After entering the ministry, he furthered his education through theology courses at Morris College, Southern Baptist Theological Institute, and Columbia International University.

At an early age, Josh gained valuable experience in the power of God through the faith of his parents, surviving several major illnesses and other crisis, including being stricken with blindness, a damaged heart, kidney failure, asthma, and a random shooting, and a heart attack, all of which provided an avenue for the fulfillment of Psalm 34:19, "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivereth him out of them all."

Along with his responsibilities as Pastor of Rehoboth United Church in Columbia, he is a member of the Board of Bishops of the United Churches of Jesus Christ (Apostolic), with churches in the United States and several foreign countries. His primary responsibilities for the organization are national treasurer and chairman of the technical/media ministry.

After freelancing for twenty years with a popular radio program called “Turning Point”, Pastor Lorick became a partner in Midland Communications Co., owners of Columbia's first all-gospel radio station, WTGH. He enjoyed a very successful career in the radio industry for approximately ten years. He served in capacities as announcer, music and program director, station manager, and sales manager.

He serves as State Director of the Youth Mentor Program for the State Attorney General’s office, a program that he helped to establish in 1992, along with several other Columbia area ministers.  This program provides an opportunity for juvenile offenders to redeem themselves through a mentoring opportunity. His secondary duties with this office are Faith Community Coordinator for Criminal Domestic Violence Prevention, and Gang Awareness/Prevention Coordinator.

Other community involvement has included: Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, Racial Reconciliation Group, "Fighting Back" Neighborhood Improvement Council, Justice Fellowship Task Force, Leadership South Carolina Class of 1997, SC Protection & Advocacy System for the Handicapped Advisory Council, the South Carolina Gang Prevention Study Committee, and the Community Against Youth Violence Task Force.

Pastor Lorick is very highly respected by his peers in both the religious and business  communities, and is often viewed as a man of great integrity and wisdom.  The weekly church broadcast, “In Church At Rehoboth” (Sundays @ 9:00 a.m. WFMV 95.3), has made his preaching ministry and style the admiration of many citizens of Columbia.
